Aswan University held a press conference in attendance of Major General. Ashraf Attia-Aswan Governor and Prof.Ahmed Ghallab-Aswan University President and the owner of great achievements on the occasion of the British Times classifications that have been carried out by Aswan University as the best Egyptian University for the academic year 2020 for the second year in a row, in attendance of Dr. Ayman Othman – Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Dr. Magdy Muhammad Ali – Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Dr. Ashraf Maabad – Director of the University Hospital, and a number of journalists and media professionals in the governorate.
Prof.Ahmed Ghallab welcomed Major General. Ashraf Attia-Aswan Governor and Patron of the Regions for his attendance at the campus in Sahari, Major General. Ashraf Attia emphasized Aswan University moves towards the right way by its carrying out this achievement that is considered a pride for Aswan Governorate by its obtaining the first place at the level of the Egyptian Universities worldwide, and this what we value and appreciate the role of Prof.Ahmed Ghallab-University President and the efforts of the university in the different sectors by carrying out a construction boom in the university branch at New Aswan City and the Sector of Postgraduate Studies & Research Affairs; Aswan University is considered the experience home and the first consultant of Aswan Governorate in all fields, there is a twinning between the University and Governorate throughout signing cooperation, fruitful and constructive protocol in a serval of engineering and scientific fields and preserving a visual identity and digital transformation.
Aswan University President gave this winning to the Aswan people and the Major General. Ashraf Attia-Aswan Governor and all the employees of Aswan University including the academic staff and their assistants, students, and researches. Aswan University President indicated Aswan University ranked among the best 10 international universities in terms of the scientific citations according to the same classification, the British Times classification is considered an international classification for ranking the best global universities issued annually and in its version of this year more than 1500 universities have been ranked in 93 countries what makes it more diverse and competitive.
Dr. Ahmed Ghallab mentioned that the British Times classification requires the classification of universities to include research and scientific papers in accredited international databases such as SCOPUSNot only are they included in the databases but they must be of high quality with which to enrich scientific research. This is what distinguished Aswan University, as it obtained in the standard of scientific citations for research a degree of 99.9 out of 100 degrees and is among the top 10 universities in the world thanks to the quality of scientific research published by Aswan University scientists and researchers.
Dr. Ayman Othman, Vice President of the University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, explained that the postgraduate studies and research sector had a great role in paying attention to research laboratories, modernizing the infrastructure, and attracting foreign students, as Aswan University occupied advanced positions in the times’ classification, the most important of which are:
– Best Egyptian University 2020 and among the top 500 A world-class university
– First place in Egypt and one of the 400 best universities in the world in the field of engineering and technology 2020
– Third place in Egypt and among the best 600 universities in the world in the field of physical sciences 2020
– Fourth place Africa and eighth Arab 2020
– The third-place 104 universities in emerging economies, according to the British Times classification 2020, and second in Egypt after Mansoura University.
It’s worth mentioning the Arab Republic of Egypt is considered distinctive and the first in the Arab world in terms of the classified universities in the edition of 2021 for the British classification, as 21 universities have been ranked and followed by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with 10 universities.
At the conclusion of the conference, Major General. Ashraf Attia-Aswan Governor presents the Aswan Governorate’s shield to Prof.Ahmed Ghallab as an appreciation for his efforts in achieving the first place worldwide at the level of the Egyptian Universities and the Aswan University President offers the University’s shield to Major General.
