In frame of Aswan University plan for society service and environment development headed by Aswan University president Prof/ Ahmed Ghallab Mohamed, a cooperation protocol was assigned today between Aswan University and Ministry of Water Resources and irrigation in attendance of Eng/ Mohamed Ali Al-shrouny _ Under-Secretary of Ministry of Irrigation in Aswan and Head of Central Administration, Prof/ Ayman Othman_ vice president for graduate studies and research and Dr. Mohamed zakaria _ Centre’s director.
University president confirmed that signing the protocol comes in frame of the presidential orientation to engage university and research centers to present science advisory that the university considers as Centre for expertise and in light of the wastage of water resources in old irrigation, the protocol includes conducting modern engineering designs, working on developing modern irrigation systems and supervising projects of ministry of irrigation and preparing offering documents inside the governorate.
Eng. Mohamed Ali Al-Sharouni, Undersecretary of Ministry of Water Resources and irrigation in Aswan – indicated that the signing of the protocol comes in frame of the plan and concern of state agencies and the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation to support development axes, including irrigation, development and agriculture, under the directives of President of the Republic. The Ministry of Irrigation is undertaking projects to rehabilitate canals and irrigation systems to improve Irrigation situation and reducing water losses that increase agricultural lands productivity, supporting the economy and the need of Ministry of Irrigation to benefit from the scientific and engineering experiences of Aswan University, Engineering Studies and Consulting Center at the university to maximize the benefit, A cooperation protocol was signed between the university and the Ministry of Irrigation to do studies and designs for those projects with general supervision on works, tests and Quality control works.
Dr. Ayman Othman_ Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research_ added that the university has prepared an ambitious plan for cooperation with various governmental institutions and civil society organizations by providing all research experiences and consltancy studies in promoting sectors, and this protocol comes as a result of the university’s plan.
Prof. Loay Saad El-Din Nasrat – Faculty of Engineering Dean and Vice-Chairman of the Center’s Board of Directors, stated that it includes a group of specialists from the university’s senior professors in various academic and scientific disciplines, The Center provides all engineering consultations, scientific studies and has professors specialized in field of water, irrigation, construction of dams and working on Opening new horizons for development in maximizing water resources in Aswan.
Dr. Mohamed Zakaria Abdel Hamid, university’s engineering consultant, stated that a cooperation protocol was signed between Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources, represented by Eng. Mohamed Ali Al-Sharouni_ head of the Central administration of Water Resources and Irrigation for Aswan Governorate, and between Aswan University and represented by Prof. Ahmed Ghallab Mohamed – Aswan university President. And he signed the protocol authorized by Prof. Ahmed Ghellab_ Aswan University President, to conduct studies, research, tests, measurements, surveys, preparing reports, providing technical consultations, quality control works, and supervising the implementation of works of Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources projects in frame of preserving water resources and supporting development axes.
