Minister of Higher education and scientific research Prof/ Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar announces that the initiative of ” apply your idea” to combat Coronavirus has been extended until Thursday 2nd April and that for the strong interest of scientists, researchers and innovators on the initiative, which aims to present innovative solutions for helping in combating Coronavirus, which was decided to close on Saturday 28th march, the initiative aims at supporting Egyptian researchers and innovators to present innovative research suggestions, whereas the Academy of scientific research and technology allocated for that 30 million pounds.
The deadline will be at Thursday 2nd April 2020 at 2:00 pm.
For his part, Dr. Mahmoud Sakr, President of the Academy, said that the plan was approved in the last Academic Council No. 176 of 2020 headed by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research. it targets applications of rapid and widespread manufacturing tools, 3D printers, CNC machines for designing masks that can be reused, designing a simple low-cost console or respirator that is easy to use and easy to build in an emergency timeframe, and the development of treatment and antimicrobial textiles for health care workers to protect them and reduce the spread of infection by using nanotechnology, developing diagnostic kits to detect coronavirus and other innovative diagnostic methods, supporting ongoing research on CoronaVirus and Attempts to produce a vaccine for the virus.
Pointing out that some of presented proposals are encouraging if the scientific and technical committees are certain of the sound scientific basis and the applicability and the time frame necessary for implementation, adding that the grant is open for all Egyptians, Egyptians abroad can also participate in coordination with research groups and scholars inside.
