The Supreme Council for Universities sends a thanking message to the President for his endless support for the Education and Scientific Research System in Egypt

The Supreme Council of Universities headed by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research thanks to the President for his endless support for the education and scientific research system in Egypt

In his meeting on the campus of Alexandria University, headed by Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, at the attendance of the University Presidents and Dr. Mohamed Latif-Secretary of the Council. The Supreme Council of Universities sent a message of thanks, appreciation, and gratitude to His Excellency President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi for his unprecedented support for the higher education and scientific research system. The council also confirmed that the presidential support was a motivation for starting studies in Matrouh, New Valley and Luxor governmental universities and three technological universities (New Cairo – Beni Suef – Delta) and impetus to expand the establishment of technological universities by starting to establish (6) New Technological Universities  (New Assiut – New Tiba in Luxor – Salam East Port Said – Burj Al Arab in Alexandria – 6th of October in Giza – and Mansoura).

The Council also appreciated its historic decision by approving the establishment of 4 private universities, which are: King Salman International University, with its three headquarters in the cities of Al-Tur, Sharm El-Sheikh, Ras Sidr, South Sinai Governorate, as well as “Al-Alamein International University”, in New Alamein City, Matrouh Governorate, and “Galala University”, in the Galala Plateau in Suez Governorate, and finally “Mansoura University” Al Jadida, in the new city of Mansoura, in Dakahlia Governorate, and directing his sovereignty to exploit the lands owned by public universities in establishing private universities affiliated with those universities; last but not least was his approval to launch the largest digital project at the level of universities and university hospitals to convert Egypt’s universities and hospitals into smart universities and hospitalsUniversities. 

The Council affirmed that these steps come from the deep belief of the political leadership in the role of education in the advancement of societies and the building of mankind and homelands, and
during the meeting, the Council agreed to:

– Authorize the Higher Committee for Coordination to determine the number of admissions to universities based on the results of the general secondary education approved by the Ministry of Education and the absorptive capacity For each faculty and the sustainable development strategy of Egypt 20-30.
– Starting from the admission coordination for the academic year 2020/2021, the Faculties of Engineering and Science at the University of Science and Technology in Zewail City will be included in the electronic coordination program to be accepted within the students’ wishes (75 wishes).

– The Faculties of Engineering and International Business Administration and Humanities at the Egyptian Japanese University of Science and Technology will be included in the electronic coordination program to be accepted within the students ’wishes (75 wishes).

The data of these colleges will also be clarified in the student’s handbook an online coordination website, and students applying to two universities must pass acceptance tests and personal interview that is held at the two universities after nomination.
– Admission of high school students, Division of Science in Faculties of Computers, Information, Artificial Intelligence, and Data Sciences in Egyptian government universities according to the rules governing admission.

– Admission of high school students, Division of Mathematics in the departments in front of the Natural Sciences Department, and in front of the Geology Division according to the rules governing admission.

– Admission of female students from the science and mathematics divisions of the Egyptian public high school (instead of the science section only) in the home economics division of the Girls’ College for the academic year 2020/2021.

– Daily follow-up by the university presidents of the steps of implementing the Egyptian universities’ preparations plan to implement the hybrid education pattern for the academic year 2020/2021
– Starting to take the necessary measures to establish 7 new private universities affiliated to each of the universities of Assiut, Helwan, Beni Suef, Benha, Aswan, Minya, and Mansoura.

– Start taking Procedures for establishing a faculty of human medicine at New Valley University.

– Cooperation protocol submitted by Mrs.Minister of Social Solidarity regarding the proposal to establish a unit for social solidarity within Egyptian universities.

– Maximizing the role of Egyptian universities in addressing the problem of illiteracy in Egypt, by contributing with the General Authority for Adult Education of the Ministry of Education and approving a social report by the Supreme Executive Committee of the National Literacy Project, which is adopted by Egyptian universities on 3/7/2020 and 7/20/2020.
Launching a competition to design the best four planning, construction, and architectural models for new private universities.
