The Faculty organized a number of events, including an educational symposium entitled The Role of Music Education in Forming a National Sense among Community Members, which was attended by Prof. Ayman Othman – President of the University, Bishop Bishoy of Aswan and its Dependencies, Prof. Loai Nasrat – Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Mohamed Rashed – Dean of the Faculty, churchmen, Faculty deputies, Academic staff and their assistants.
The symposium was lectured by Prof. Amira Sayed – Former Dean of Faculty of Music Education – Helwan University and Prof. Sherin Abdel-Latif – Professor of Arabic Music and Dean of the Faculty of Music Education at Helwan University. The President of the University -in his speech during the symposium – stressed the pivotal and important role of music education, which works to enhance many values in the society and develop loyalty to the homeland through the national songs that abound in the history of musical art in Egypt. His Grace Bishop Bishoy spoke during the symposium about the role of music education and its impact on building the human being, stressing its importance as a means of rooting the love of beauty and life and developing the values of belonging and giving to the homeland.
Prof. Dr. Loai Saad El-Deen stressed that interest in music education in the stages of education works to raise generations that enjoy a great deal of culture, thought and national spirit. Prof. Mohamed Rashed praised the great efforts of the university administration and its interest in this art through the continuous support of the Department of Music Education at the Faculty. Prof. Amira Sayed addressed in her lecture the role of music education in reviving the sense and national spirit, noting that The national aspect of music education has its lofty connotations and goals that address human feelings and develop love for the homeland. Prof. Sherin Abdel-Latif spoke about the role of the school in raising generations to love this art through music education, songs and hymns, stressing that music, through its ability to fuse words into beautiful, wonderful melodies, can penetrate feelings and emotions and elevate the human spirit. During the symposium, certificates of appreciation were distributed to a number of distinguished employees and students of the faculty union. The symposium concluded with the Faculty choir presenting various segments that included musical pieces, songs and national anthems.
The activities also included an awareness symposium entitled Strengthening the efforts of volunteer work for university youth in the presidential initiative – Decent Life, in which Dr. Mohamed Salah – Coordinator of Decent Life in Aswan lectured and spoke about the initiative’s projects in Aswan, which include all fields. He stressed that this initiative launched by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi – President of the Republic aims to advance the service system in all sectors in order to provide a decent life for citizens. He also praised the efforts of Aswan University in supporting this initiative.
